The “Presepe Reale”, by Serena Bertolucci, Alessandra Cabella and Luca Leoncini, is the first part exhibition, just restored, of a Nativity Scene made up of 85 statues: these first 27 pieces are carved and painted statues rapresenting the Holy Family, the angels, the Magi, the shepherds, the commoners and the soldiers with costumes in silk, cotton, velvet, jeans, silver passementerie with crowns, sabers, spears, shields in metal, belts, tools and animals.
The collection will be exposed from 8th December to 25th March 2018, in the Dancehall of Palazzo Reale, with the scenary realized by Giulio Sommariva in collaboration with the students of the Ligustica Academy of Fine Arts
The Nativity Scene is attributed to Giovanni Battista Garaventa, dated in early nineteenth century and buyed by the Savoia’s family  to be hosted in the San Filippo’s church in Torino. Probably Vittorio Emanuele I wanted it for one of his royal residences and, probably, he chose a Genoese artist for the great fame of the local Nativity Scene.

The inauguration will be Thursday, December 7th at 4 pm.
The Nativity Scene will be exposed with all its pieces at the end of the restoration, on the occasion of Christmas 2018.
