The International Competition of Violin - Paganini's Prize is a big event of prestige and international appeal, boasted by the city of Genoa.
The Artistic Direction of the 55th Edition of the Paganini's Prize has been renewed to Master Fabio Luisi, pride of Genoa known worldwide, who has been nominated Honorary Director of Carlo Felice Theater, Principal Director at the New York Metropolitan and to whom was recently given the role of Generalmusikdirektor at the Zurich Opera House, one of the lyrical temples of old Europe.
The jury will consist of at least seven internationally renowned members of the music field belonging to different nationalities: A group of professionals recognized for their experience, competence, integrity and impartiality, the majority will be foreigner.
The competitions will take place in Genoa from 05/04/2018 to 14/04/2018.
Only 33 contestants have been chosen during the first selections, among 108 musicians who had tried to join the competition.
In addition, the Municipal Administration in collaboration with Carlo Felice Theatre, Paganini Friends Association and the Enzo Ruby Foundation, organized during October a series of events aimed at enhancing the figure of the famous musician, for instance, through the use of the famous violin "Il Cannone" Guarneri del Gesù, given by Paganini himself to the city of Genoa.
