Born out of a collaboration between the City of Genoa and the Soprintendenza per il Patrimonio Artistico della Liguria (Ligurian Council for Artistic Heritage), the Damasco, Velluto, Jeans (Damask, Velvet, Jeans, or DVJ) Research Centre promotes the importantl textile collections of the city, located in Palazzo Bianco, a Strada Nuova Museum, and of the State, located in Palazzo Spinola di Pellicceria, through the organization of temporary exhibitions and conference series.

On a rotating basis, visitors are presented with lace, antique clothes, damasks, velvets, and embroidered textiles of the highest artistic quality, dating to between the 16th and 19th centuries
