Genoa outdoor
Genoa, a vertical forest!. Although it may seem strange in the most vertical city in Italy and perhaps in Europe, squeezed as it is between the sea and the mountains, where all things seem piled on top of each other due to lack of space. Yet nonetheless it is a city rich in green spaces and parks which play a fundamental role in the life of the city.
All you need is to know how to get around and a map to guide you through this “archipelago” of green islands.
This urban park, made up of the gardens of its noble villas which constitute the architectural legacy of its centuries of greatest splendour and which, from east to west, from Nervi to Voltri, form a series of gardens, often hidden, which together compose a unique urban park threaded like a pearl necklace over the city’s narrow and extended territory.
The constantly moving edge of the city’s seashore is now enriched by the city’s new Waterfront which will soon allow you to walk along an uninterrupted sea promenade, from the city’s ancient port to the fishing village of Boccadasse.
Its belt of historic fortifications watches over the city from above, today forming the way stations of a long green itinerary that can be traversed gently on foot, in more demanding walks or trekking, or on two wheels in MTB. This warm embrace, strong but gentle, has always protected the “Superba” and now opens to welcome the city’s visitors.
