CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTNING
December 8, 5:30 pm, Piazza De Ferrari
Christmas holidays will start with the traditional Christmas tree lighting. The ceremony, in the presence of the Mayor, will be preceded by traditional Genoese chants and dances and by a Gruppo Città di Genova musical performance.
CONFEUGO
December 19, 4 pm, Mandraccio (Porto Antico)
A traditional Genoese ceremony during which the People’s Abbott pays homage to the Doge and they exchange Christmas greetings. A laurel log is offered and later set on fire: tradition has it that unburnt logs are magical.
GENOVACCESA
December 19, 5:30 pm, Piazza De Ferrari
A traditional pyromusical show with enchanting fireworks to the beat of music to celebrate the arrival of Christmas. Live music will be performed in Piazza De Ferrari from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, then the pyromusical show will start.
IL TEMPO DEI PRESEPI
From December 8
Discover the rich Genoese nativity scene (presepio) tradition, dating back to the first half of the 16th Century: historical-artistic, traditional, scenographical, landscape, mechanical, ancient, modern and living nativity scenes. Sacred, baroque and traditional music concerts; themed itineraries, guided visits and tours and many more initiatives.

Nine days of celebrations and shopping that will give you the opportunity to choose presents, experience the Christmas atmosphere with the Rovaniemi Santa Claus Village and get to know other Countries’ traditional celebrations with their dances, chants, decorations and traditional sweets.
CIRCUMNAVIGANDO FESTIVAL
From December 26, 2015 to January 10, 2016 Genoa will be hosting the Circumnavigando Festival, the international Contemporary Theatre and Circus festival.
During 16 days, there will be more than 50 shows and 16 circus companies from all over the world, performing and celebrating the Festival’s 15th edition: Circo Ribolle, Kadavresky, Kerol, Cirque Democratique, Cie De la Prakà, Matteo Galbusera, Milo e Olivia and many more…
NEW YEAR'S EVE
An evocative concert with 101 violins in Piazza Matteotti, street theatre and music in Porto Antico, art and photography exhibitions at Palazzo Ducale, theatrical performances, entertainment in the Historic Centre to welcome 2016 in Genoa. Further information here.
